Mission
Harlem Tech Fund (HTF) is the non-profit arm of Uncharted Power that serves Harlem community members through education and career support in STEM, innovation, and entrepreneurship. HTF aims to usher in a new Harlem Renaissance — one that utilizes technology as the medium for self-expression, self-actualization, and community revitalization. As HTF works to contribute to the vibrant STEM ecosystem in Harlem, it will empower residents to create positive local change, ensuring that community members themselves can actualize the economic development initiatives that they want to see.
Vision
The tools of the New Harlem Renaissance will be the laptop, the soldering iron, and the 3D printer. Our vision is threefold. We aim to:
01.
–
Foster inclusive and diverse partnerships to encourage economic development requested and designed by community members.
02.
–
Encourage Harlem residents to draw upon their individual experiences to drive innovation both locally and globally.
03.
–
Create a safe and supportive space for communities that are underrepresented in STEM to learn, build, and innovate.
"I have discovered in life that there are ways of getting almost anywhere you want to go, if you really want to go.”
Langston Hughes
Harlem
Harlem’s history is not a singular narrative. It is spoken, written, painted, and tasted. In the countless ways that Harlem tells its story, it simultaneously declares an unmistakable identity.
Today, Harlem’s rich tradition of creative invention can be seen on each corner of every street, fostering inspiration and imagination.
HTF aims to support those whose chance at creating has been hindered. We aspire to put the decision-making power driving development back into the hands of incumbent Harlem residents who know this neighborhood best.
